About Our Campaign

The Tri-C Student Nursing Association Volunteer Abroad program gives Nursing students a faculty-led, service-based learning experience in partnership with organizations like Global Brigades. Students travel as a cohort to support community-based health initiatives, strengthen clinical and professional skills, and return with a deeper understanding of cultural humility and patient-centered care.

This is an established and growing initiative. In recent years, Tri-C students have participated in brigades in Belize and Greece, supporting clinics and community health efforts alongside local partners. Our next Volunteer Abroad experience is scheduled for Panama in May 2026.

Why This Trip Matters

Volunteering abroad is about more than travel. It is an immersive educational experience that connects classroom learning to real-world public health settings. Students gain exposure to care delivery in different systems, learn how social and environmental factors shape health outcomes, and practice working as part of an interdisciplinary team in unfamiliar settings.

These experiences build the competencies our graduates need: communication, adaptability, teamwork, and cultural awareness. Students return with renewed confidence, a broader worldview, and a stronger commitment to serving patients and communities with empathy and excellence, both abroad and here at home.

What We Need

International experiences can be financially out of reach for many students without support. Fundraising is essential to reduce barriers so that participation is based on a student’s commitment to learning and service, not their ability to pay.

The total cost per participant is significant and includes airfare, lodging, program fees, meals, and required travel logistics. To ensure strong oversight and student support, the program is faculty-led and follows the College’s international travel approval and risk management processes.

How You Can Help

Your gift helps make this opportunity accessible. Donations offset student travel costs and can support other essential expenses that often become obstacles, such as passport-related fees, required supplies, and upfront deposits.

When you give, you are investing in Tri-C students who are preparing for careers in healthcare, and in an educational experience that strengthens their ability to serve diverse patients with skill, compassion, and cultural understanding.

Thank you for supporting The Tri-C Student Nursing Association Volunteer Abroad program and helping Tri-C students bring their learning, service, and leadership into the world.
